The Mystery Of UFOs

This is a book for younger readers. It starts out noting that 90% of UFO sightings are relatively easily identified. Then it goes into a brief history of UFOs, noting the phenomenon goes back to around 2000 years before the birth of Christ, and that they are a world-wide phenomenon. After that it goes into the Kenneth Arnold sighting, the various classes of encounters, and some other specific sightings.

Then it goes into the Adamski and Hill encounters, and notes that psychologists say that abduction encounters are just imaginary. The book talks about Project Blue Book, and then notes conspiracy theories.

Then it goes into an examination of whether or not there is other intelligent life in the universe and SETI efforts. The difficulty of travel between stars is noted, along with the subject of objects from earth that have been attributed to an alien origin.

Then it discusses some of the explanations given for sightings including weather balloons, mirages, planes, space objects, weird weather conditions and other possibilities. After that it talks about noted UFO fakes and why people have faked UFO reports. It summarizes arguments both for and against the idea of UFOs being aliens.

Frankly, it's a very well done and extremely well balanced examination of UFOs.
