Attack on Ranma review

This is a crossover story using Ranma 1/2, Dragonball Z , Attack on Titan and Bleach. Ranma is a girl in this story. It takes place in the year 850.

Chapter 1

The story opens with Ranma, her cousin and her grandfather who happens to be Happosai. Happosai is about as underhanded as in the canon Ranma 1/2, although in this story he seems to have specialized in theft. By the way, there's also a cute rabbit which them whose identity becomes revealed later.

There's a good fight scene in this chapter. There's also a lot of the anti-female chauvinism that has been present throughout history, the two guys (Happosai, Ryu) making a number of disparaging remarks because Ranma is a girl. Her training in this story has obviously been as hard on her as her training in the canon story.

Chapter 2

Ranma finds out the back story of the rabbit. The story itself is quite interesting and reminds me somewhat of The Flash television show along with a few other science-fiction shows. There's an explanation of how great a menace the Titans are, along with some romantic development between Ranma and Ryu.

Their main goal now is to get to a place of sanctuary. Another good chapter.

Chapter 3

There's a new character with a toned-down Superman-type origin. She's Orihimi. The group continues moving towards the Three-Walled City, fighting Titans all the way, then finally running into a sort-of military group.

Chapter 4

The group is inside the city but finds out it's government is as narrow-minded as many governments today, not trusting outsiders or anyone with unusual abilities. Typical prejudiced jerks.

A captain they meet is particularly prejudiced against the girls. The guy running the boot camp makes the captain look like a saint as far as treating women go.

Both chapters 3 and 4 are decent chapters. The emphasis on prejudice is very realistic and unfortunately downplaying the abilities of women because they are 'just' women is still a fairly standard approach in today's world.

Chapter 5

Ranma and Ori get much-needed food for the camp but they have to avoid not only the Titans but the human guards as well, again showing how narrow-minded the military and the government are there.

There's more about just how bad a government they have is. There's still trouble with some of the other girls and their attitude, but more and more of the girls want the training that Ranma and Ori can give them.

Thus, the story ends. It's actually one of the types of stories that is quite good as it is, but still almost demands more chapters so we can see how the male officers respond to how good the training is that Ranma and Ori have given the girls. I'd also like to know if they all finally get to attack and defeat the Titans.

The attitude of the government and the nobles is very, very bad, though, and could lead to a great deal of trouble for Ranma and the others.
