Misshapen Destiny

This is another in the never-finished Ranma-chan/Ranko fanfictions.

Review

The story is another Sailor Moon/Ranma ½ crossover although the Sailor Moon part does not appear until the 4th chapter. In my opinion the crossover part should be/should have been dropped altogether as it's not necessary at all. The story is good enough as it stands.

Ranma ends up as a female and possibly permanently. She makes friends with Shampoo, is accepted somewhat by the amazons and gets to meet her mother, eventually. Ryouga ends up being cursed as a cat and Genma finally begins to get a clue, but only after he initially plans to pass off Ryouga as Ranma, having abandoned her in the amazon village.

Dropping the entire Sailor Moon part, the story is really good and has a lot of potential. A lot of things differ from the canon story, but they do so in a way that makes sense and would have a lot of effects down the line. Right off, for example, it appears that Ranma could end up permanently female. Ryouga is cursed, but Ranma has nothing to do with it. Shampoo and the others are friends, not adversaries, and Ranma gets to be reunited with her mother.

This all takes place before Ranma/Ranma-chan even gets to meet the Tendos, so it would have been interesting to see how that interaction would have gone, and what role Genma would play once he returned from China. Unfortunately, the story was never finished.

Synopsis

Chapter 1

Cologne is taking Shampoo on a tour of the area near Jusenkyo, knowing that someday Shampoo will be a matriarch of the tribe and needs to know what is in the region, and its dangers.

They watch as Genma and Ranma fight and they see Genma fall into the spring of drowned panda. They also see Ranma fall in to the spring of drowned girl but, in this case, he hits his head on a rock when he falls into the spring. Genma Panda reaches into the spring to rescue Ranma and is changed into a girl panda which finally notices its own changes and runs off in panic.

Cologne determines that Ranma's heart has stopped, but she and Shampoo are able to get it going again and get the water out of her lungs. Later Cologne talks to Ranma and tells him that he basically died and was brought back to life.

Ryouga is also there and this time does not get knocked off a cliff into the springs. On the other hand, he doesn't pay attention to where he is walking and he walks right into a spring.

Which is when Genma returns and pulls Ryouga out, now himself changing into a combination of cat and panda (a canda? a pat?). Ryouga had fallen into the spring of drowned cat and now has what Shampoo's curse would have been.

Ranma-chan finds out that she seeming cannot change back to male, that even very hot water has not effect on her. Cologne decides to try a special ointment on Ranma-chan that will allow her to endure boiling water to see if that will allow her to change back.

The process doesn't work, though.

Genma finds out Ranma-chan is all right and decides to leave her in the Village and take Ryouga with him and pass him off as his son.

Chapter 2

Ranma-chan has a nightmare and wakes up, then sees that Genma's backpack is gone which tells her that he has abandoned her and run off.

Ranma-chan talks to Cologne later and tells her about the neko-ken training. Cologne remembers that such training had been outlawed among people she knew due to the psychological scarring that would happen afterwards.

Cologne begins to make plans, realizing that she can't really train Ranma-chan in the village. Too many of the villagers would consider her an outsider and would know of her former existence as a male and thus look down on him, while one of the amazons had gotten Ranma-chan really angry at her and that person could end up getting severely hurt if Ranma-chan ever went after her.

So Cologne decides to leave for Japan, taking Ranma-chan, Shampoo and Mousse.

Before anything can be done, though, Ranma-chan goes after Kho Ome, the woman who had gotten her angry (basically by making Ranma-chan orgasm as she rubbed her body with the lotion for the pot in chapter 1), and hurts her enough that the woman has to take shelter with the villages Council of Elders. Ranma-chan is initiated as an amazon warrior and enters the village tournament, taking Kho Ome's place and ranking.

Ranma-chan picks up some of the Chinese language but sounds like Shampoo sounds in the canon series when she speaks Japanese. Mousse is going with them since he speaks more Japanese than anyone else there.

Ranma-chan beats a number of the women in the tournament, but they think that she was just playing with them, not realizing that Ranma-chan was having to make adjustments in her fighting style due to the different physical structure and center of gravity of her female body.

This time, though, Ranma-chan loses the fight against Shampoo as she collapses from exhaustion during the fight.

Chapter 3

Ranma-chan is having troubles with nightmares but Shampoo lacks sympathy, Ranma-chan noting that she is encountering reverse sexism; the amazons expect the women to be strong and not cry vs. Genma's idea that boys never cry.

Ryouga tried to run away from Genma, realizing his training techniques were insane and realizing that Genma is starting to call him Ranma.

Ranma-chan confronts Nodoka once they are in Japan and initially Nodoka wants her to commit seppuku, but after listening to everything she's been through decides to accept her as she is. Nodoka even admits she always wanted a girl.

Ranma-chan still has nightmares and Nodoka comforts her. Shampoo becomes more understanding as more of Ranma-chan's story is revealed. Nodoka becomes even more angry with Genma. Cologne, Shampoo and Mousse will stay temporarily at Nodoka's.

Chapter 4

Genma is starting to realize just how badly he mistreated Ranma, and just how unlikely it is that Ryouga will fill in for his son.

Shampoo will be attending school with Ranma-chan, this one being Sakura High. Cologne warns her about not trying to kill anybody in a fight, and using less power than she normally does. Ranko wants to continue her Anything Goes training under Soun Tendo and Nodoka says she will look into the matter.

The Sailor Moon crossover part then starts, just enough to indicate that it is going to be a part of the story. Cologne realizes what is going on and that the Amazons know the legend of the Moon Kingdom.

Ryouga makes his way back to the amazon village and they decide to mail him in cat-form to Japan and Cologne.

Ranko meets Sailor Moon and a couple of the other scouts in their form as students.
