Drowned Girl

Review

This is another multi-part story that has not been continued and is unlikely to be finished since it was last updated in 2003. I like what was done, other than the two problems mentioned below, and I think the story had a lot of potential.

The story does have some problems. For one, the paragraphs are overly long; they should have been broken into smaller sections. The main problem is that there are numerous typos, some of which are very distracting (example: "Ranma slurped up the bowl or Ranma..." and "His late for dinner."). The story has a lot of potential, especially considering Xiao is a person way out of their own time, and there definitely would have been a lot of trouble with Akane down the road.

Synopsis

Chapter 1

The story starts out in China's past and Xiao Shun Ye, a girl that always tried to help others. Her family is terrible poor and she ends up deciding to become a concubine to try to help them. Xiao goes to a castle and is interviewed by the lord's First Wife (the guy could have more than 1 wife, and the First Wife was in charge of all the others), and the First Wife does not like her.

The husband chooses to take Xiao as a concubine and that really gets First Wife angry. First Wife goes insane and arranges for Xiao to be captured and abused and tied up. She then pushes the girl into a Jusenkyo spring with a curse written on paper tied around her.

In the present she surfaces from the pool and is attacked by Ryouga, but is saved by Ranma.

Chapter 2

Ryouga is chasing Ranma at the school when Ranma falls into a fountain but doesn't change into his girl form. He then sees Ryouga attacking what appears to be Ranma's female form and he stops him. Ryouga realizes his mistake and the two of them take the girl to the Cat Cafe.

They need Cologne to speak to the girl since the girl is speaking Chinese. The girl tells them her story and wants to stay with Ranma. He takes her home and introduces the others to her.

Chapter 3

Ranma explains to the family what happened. Akane realizes that Xiao is physically like Ranma-chan, but is soft-spoken and more feminine. Akane is also getting jealous over how gentle Ranma is with the girl. Xiao has the ability to "read" people's personalities in social situations.

Xiao sleeps in Akane's room but has nightmares. Akane gets Ranma and he takes Xiao to his room, leaving Akane in her room, her jealousy increasing.

Chapter 4

The next morning Xiao gets up early and helps Kasumi prepare breakfast. Ranma is anxious to see what it tastes like while Akane's jealousy grows.

Akane and Ranma take Xiao to the Cat Café before they go to school but Kuno appears. Xiao hits him, having sort of inherited Ranma's reflexes.

Cologne thinks that Ranma and Xiao's souls were united, briefly, and when the separated they did not separate perfectly, each person getting a bit of the other's soul and chracteristics.

Meanwhile Ranma is being nicer to Akane, although she gets made at him and he says she gets mad at him whether he's nice to her or not.

Xiao helps Cologne out during the lunch hour when Shampoo doesn't show up for some reason.

Xiao realizes that she's in love with Ranma.
