Ranma ½, Part 10 number 8

Nodoka is at the house and almost catches Genma and Ranma in their real forms in the bathroom. The story reiterates the part about Nodoka would demand Ranma and Genma's deaths if Ranma did not live up to her concept of a manly son.

Which makes Nodoka, of course, utterly insane. This is one of the reasons that I tend to prefer some of the Ranma ½ fanfiction pieces to the actual canon as the characters are sometimes treated quite differently. In a few of them Nodoka is really a caring mother and says she never had any intention of killing her only son for any reason. In some pieces Ranma ends up permanently as female and Nodoka still accepts her, but as her new daughter.

In the canon world, she would probably kill Ranma-chan.

The story continues with Ranma-chan nearly being accidentally changed into Ranma and having to avoid that at all costs. Ranma decides he wants to meet his mother as himself, but Genma does everything he can to stop him, afraid Ranma will be changed into Ranma-chan in front of his mother. In the end he runs off with Nodoka in his panda form to keep them from meeting.
