Iris Series: Part 5: China Roses

Review

This is another good story in the series, ending with everyone, at least if not totally happy, at least able to get on with their lives. The psychological drama between Cologne and Ranko is played out well, as is the acceptance by Ranko that she is willing to have a sexual relationship with Kuno.

Synopsis

The story opens with Cologne dying, wanting to find Ranma-chan and explain things to her and apologize.

Akane is stressing about her upcoming wedding with Ryouga, and Ranko tells her that she is getting closer to being able to have a complete physical relationship with Kuno. Not just yet, but not totally out of the question, either.

Dr. Tofu gets a letter that upsets him, and he needs to talk to Ranko right away.

Dr. Tofu tells Ranko that Cologne is dying and she goes to see her in the hospital. Cologne begins with small talk, and we find out that Mousse and Shampoo had married and had a daughter. Then she tells Ranko that she was the one that cursed her. Ranko runs away.

Ranko gets a call from Dr. Tofu telling her that Cologne will die soon, so she goes to the hospital and, while not exactly forgiving Cologne, lets her know that she has adapted to her life and has gotten on with her life, so in effect, she won. Cologne is not able to talk, though, so Ranko leaves.

Ranko later tells Kuno that she is ready to have a full sexual relationship with him.
