Cat-Fu Fighting

This is a really funny tape. I had looked at the story in the tankobons and manga some time ago and thought they would make a funny episode, and when I had a chance to get the tape I did. I noticed that it does differ somewhat from the tankobon/manga storyline, but not so as to radically alter the story.

We get another inside into Genma's wonderful fatherly capabilities when we find out that when Ranma was young Genma tied various forms of fish around Ranma and threw him into a room full of cats. The action was, unsurprisingly, rather upsetting to Ranma who has maintained a (secret) fear of cats to this day.

Secret, that is, until found out. Finding his secret out, though, could prove dangerous for when Ranma has had an overload of fear of cats he mentally becomes a cat. A full martial-arts expert, nasty, slashing cat.

The second episode concerns Cologne's appearance on the scene, indicating that Ranma is Shampoo's fiancee and that is that, period. It wouldn't be so problematic if the rather elderly lady did not also at the same time have incredible martial-arts skills; skills the equal, perhaps better, of Ranma's.

One of the funniest and best tapes in the series.
