Cast a Second Line into the Sea

Review

The story takes place some years after the end of the series and there have been many changes. Ranma and Akane had been married, had four kids, and then Akane had died of cancer.

Ranma is now older and the curse is causing his girl form to want to find a mate, and then Ryoga shows up.

So Ranma has to decide whether or not Ranma-chan can really have a relationship with Ryoga, or whether the male form of Ranma needs to just continue as before.

All in all it's a fairly good story.

Synopsis

The story takes place years after the ending of the series. Ranma has just run into Ryoga, who he has not seen for around seven years. Ranma is in female form.

Ranma-chan tells Ryoga that Akane died seven years previously from cancer.

Ryoga reveals that his curse has gone. P-chan basically got old and died, leaving Ryoga uncursed.

Ranma-chan also reveals that Cologne had died (probably of old age), and Shampoo no longer lives in the area.

Ryoga meets Kimiko (14) and Nabiki, Jr. (16) (who later is referred to as Nodoka). There is also another set of girls, apparently all four being children of Ranma and Akane.

Atsuko and Ranko are the names of the other two girls.

Ranma become female most of the time to help care for his daughters after Akane died. Ranma-chan is now rather lonely.

Nabiki shows up for dinner and Ryoga notices that Ranma-chan is not very happy about that.

Ranma-chan talks to Ryoga and reveals that he blames Nabiki and her schemes from holding Akane and him apart, and he has absolutely no interest in marrying Nabiki.

Ryoga and Akari did not work out. Ukyo had gotten married.

Ryoga had ended up in the Arctic and somehow managed to burn all his anger away.

Ranma-chan, her daughters and Ryoga talk. Apparently the curse is causing Ranma-chan to want to find a mate; her biological clock is ticking sort of thing, and it's not something she can control by using mental techniques.

The girls have a slumber party for Ranma-chan and tell her that it is ok with them if she/he gets married again.

Ranma-chan also finds out during the party that her daughter Nodoka is a lesbian.

That situation turns out bad, though, when Nodoka and the girl she likes, who is the daughter of the male ice dancer that kissed Ranma in the series, catches them in bed and promptly disowns her, so she moves in with Ranma. (The girl's name is Himiko.)

Kasumi is pregnant again, and Nabiki has gone to America.

Ryoga returns after a year and Ranma talks to Akane at her gravesite and decides it's all right for Ranma-chan and Ryoga to have a relationship, and perhaps even more.
