Twin Troubles

Review

This is a cute story that has not really been finished. The basic idea is that Genma had both a son and a daughter, and took both on the training trip, though the daughter, Ranko, was only on the trip for part of the time.

Ranko shows up at the dojo and a series of events causes major changes in Ranma, Kasumi and Akane. It's a nice fic showing a growing relationship between Ranma and Kasumi, and points up some of Akane's flaws as a person.

Synopsis

Chapter 1

Genma gets a letter from his father and starts acting really weird (well, weirder than normal, anyhow.) His father disapproved of Genma marrying Nodoka. Apparently this is at a time when Genma had told Ranma that Nodoka had died when she was actually very much alive.

Kasumi gets upset at this and demands that Genma explain what is going on. He explains about the seppuku pledge.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the town, a red-headed girl who looks like Ranma-chan arrives. Kuno glomps on to her and kisses her (her first kiss, apparently), and he ends up with his head buried in the dirt. It seems she's come to town for a purpose.

The new girl gets to the dojo and addresses Genma as her father. The girl's name is Ranko, and she thinks Ranma-chan is impersonating her. Apparently they are fraternal twins and Ranko was on the training trip for three years.

Genma's father is going to come for a visit to find out if Ranko or Ranma should be his heir (and he's rich.)

Ranko challenges Ranma to a sparring match but he refuses to hit a girl. No matter how hard Ranko tries she can't defeat him, and Ranma ends up stopping the fight with his Chestnuts-Roasting-on-an-open-fire technique.

Chapter 2

Ranko eats at normal speed, unlike Ranma. She says after she was left by Genma she was picked up by some people and raised as a Shinto priestess. She also enjoys school and has a 4.0 average.

Akane gets mad at Ranma and starts to go after him with her mallet, but Ranko stops her and chastises her for the way she is acting. Akane and Ranko fight and Akane loses, badly.

Ranko announces she intends to go to the same school Ranma does.

Trouble starts as soon as they get to school with Kuno and his “pig-tailed goddess.” Ranko doesn't take kindly to this and Kuno's face meets the dirt again.

Ranma tells Ranko about Ukyo and Genma's promise of the day. Ukyo fills Ranko in on the various fiancees that Ranma has and she gets even madder. Meanwhile Ranma is beating up Kuno. Akane challenges Ranko to another fight.

Chapter 3

Ranma tells Ranko about how he's attacked all the time and in short order Mousse attacks but goes after Ranko. Ranma defeats Mousse and Ranko gets angry, saying it was her fight.

Genma tries to sneak into the kitchen and get some food and in the process he semi-man-handles Kasumi, just as Ranma and Ranko get home. Ranma is the first to hit him through the wall and attack, and Ranko is right behind. Kasumi had already hit him in the head with a frying pan when she spotted him trying to get food out of the fridge.

Akane tries to fight Ukyo but loses badly and quickly.

Chapter 4

Ranko and Ranma spar in the morning. The grandfather is supposed to arrive that day and Genma is still missing. The grandfather arrives and seems to be a nice man, although Ranma won't give him a polite greeting.

Ranma thinks that Ranko will be taken away like everything and every one he has ever really liked.

Ranko's grandfather asks her if she plans to resume her responsibilities, or if she wants to stay with the Tendo's and Ranma, and she says she wants to stay there.

Apparently Ranma-chan is not the only female that has an unwanted suitor. A guy and his dozen henchmen attack her. During the fight, though, something goes wrong and a magical necklace is placed on Kasumi who seems to transform.

Ranma tries to get the choker/necklace off Kasumi but she hits him very hard. All of the pent-up anger that Kasumi has she finally gives voice to, and a very moving seen with Soun occurs and Kasumi is able to return to normal.

During the encounter Kasumi kisses Ranma and it's possible she has an interest in him.

Ranko talks to Ryoga about Ranma not taking her seriously. She's also able to talk to Cologne in Mandarin.

Chapter 5

The next chapter opens several days later.

Genma returns and he and Soun actually start to train some.

Ranko and Shampoo have a talk. Kasumi wants to spar with Ranma and she can change into her ninja self with the use of the necklace.

Ranko takes lessons from Cologne in the chestnuts technique, talks to Shampoo about some things she should stop doing if she suspects to win Ranma's heart, and asks Cologne about the necklace Kasumi is wearing.

Happosai appears and glomps on to Kasumi's breasts and steals her bra, but gets hit with Soun and Tendo's underwear which manages to reduce his energy.

Chapter 6

Ranko's grandfather has gotten her an apartment for herself and Ranma also has a room there he can use when he wants. Soun is beginning to give up on an Akane/Ranma match, but tells Genma he thinks a Kasumi/Ranma match is now possible.

Chapter 7

A message is brought to Cologne from the Amazon council. Ranko and Ryoga do some training, and Ranko gets hurt some. Akane fights with Shampoo to find out just where she is on her training level, and Shampoo easily beats her.

Ranko offers to train Akane, trying to get her to work on her anger first.

Chapter 8

Kasumi and Ranko have a talk to get Ranko to better understand Ranma. Ranko still wants to get to be as good a fighter as Ranma is, but Ukyo tells her that none of them will really get to his level and stay there.

Mizuki and Kuno have managed to hire an assassin to kill Ranma, and Ranko, Ukyo, and Kasumi will try to help him. Cologne and Shampoo join them. Five ninjas attack Ukyo, Cologne, Shampoo and Kasumi, while Ranko runs to help Ranma.

Ranma manages to kill the assassin, which was really a demon, but is badly injured in the process, as is Ranko. Ranko and Ranma and able to work out their differences later.

Chapter 9

Ranko's friends show up and one of them, a witch, heals Ranma. Ranma then fights with the other friend, Megumi, who uses a sword. Ranma manages to defeat her.

Nodoka is coming to visit.
