Information from Eric Binford. Thanks, Eric!

Searching for the haunting music for the above titled film, I came across the following info on the music with regards to your question on your lovely website.

The album you show has the following tunes:

SIDE I

1. Picnic from Hanging Rock (Doina: Lui Petra Unc)
2. Jocuri Din Banat
3. Doina Riului Olt
4. Ciocirlia
5. Balada Sarpelui

SIDE II

6. Miranda's Theme (Doina: Sus Pe Culmea DeaLuLui)
7. Sorocul Mare
8. Doina
9. Gheorghe Mina Boii Bine
10. Cintec Din Ardeal: Mocirita Cu Trifoi
11. Doina Din Bocsa
12. Nani, Nani Puisor

The two different versions of music you mention are for "Picnic At Hanging Rock" and "Miranda's Theme". They are actually two entirely different pieces of music, though they do sound similar. These are called Doinas. A Doina is a a Rumanian folk tune. It's possible now to get both Doinas played by Zamfir on the one CD, with Marcel Cellier on Organ, as it appears in the film. They recorded both tunes in 1971-72, a few years before the film's production. I think the CD is called "Flute De Pan Et Orgue". Note that the vinyl LP you show is titled "A THEME FROM..." and may contain other music not in the film.

There was a CD release of "Picnic At Hanging Rock" by Lift Australia Pty Ltd, but they went out of business many years ago. I don't know if it has the same track listing as the vinyl one above. I doubt there is an official vinyl or CD release at this stage.

The other pieces in the film are actually listed on your link to Sandra's website, (you have her old and new one, by the way). Phew! Hope this helps. If you have Sandra's contact details I'd like to try my poor German and email her about this.
