The Blackmail Ring

The story is a little unusual in that the Shadow does not have much importance until later in the story. It starts with the Shadow in Paris killing some criminals, then focuses on a character named Stewart Braxton who ends up helping Harry Vincent. The Shadow does not really begin to play a major role until over forty pages into the story.

There's a lot of blackmail going on and various people being killed. Harry is captured and nearly killed. There's also reference made to the Shadow's radio program. Braxton does a good job but ends up being tricked by the main evil villain. Still, the Shadow is able to figure out just what is really going on and ends up triumphant.

It's not quite as good a Shadow novel as the earlier ones were.
