Master of Death

The Shadow is up against a strong opponent. Eric Veldon contacts various scientists to arrange financial support for their projects and then has them killed. He also finds a way to work on the brains of criminals to make them zombie-like and they become his minions.

The methods he uses to kill the others are also unusual, such as carbon monoxide gas mixed into dry ice. The ice melts, the gas is released, and the guy dies.

Cliff is endangered as he becomes next in line to be operated on. Mann plays a role also is getting information that the Shadow needs. It's a rather strange and very good Shadow story.
