Archie series The Shadow #2

The front cover has the Shadow appearing as a sort of cross between Green Lantern and the Green Hornet.

The story opens with Lamont in his plane flying and hitting turbulence caused by the explosion of an atomic bomb. Khan is in a plane that tries to shoot Lamont down, but Lamont fires an air-to-air missile and shoots down Khan's plan, but Khan escapes in time.

Lamont parachutes into Red China and is nearly shot by guards. Lamont, now sort of dressed as the Shadow (no hate or scarf) uses mass hypnosis on the guards with beams drawn coming from his eyes. His drink is drugged in a bar, but it turns out it was to get him separate from everyone else to meet a secret agent he was supposed to find.

The Shadow doesn't seem to bother keeping his identity very much of a secret. Also, his mental powers seem to exceed even those of the radio version of the Shadow.

Khan apparently has some sort of super-bomb he's threatening to set off unless Red China surrenders to him. The Shadow hypnotizes Khan and finds out where the bomb is and also causes Khan to forget his whole bomb plot.

The comic also includes chapter 2 in The Adventures of the Shadow (a text story).

The second story is Margo Lane's Honeymoon. Margo apparently works for Lamont Cranston, but doesn't know that he is the Shadow. In the end it turns out Margo has been dreaming.
