DC The Shadow #4

The story opens with the Shadow shooting out the tires of a car that crashes. It was carrying illegal liquor, and he finds out where it was to be delivered. On the way to his headquarters the Shadow's cab is stalled by an accident; the fifth hoodlum to be killed violently that year, and not by the Shadow.

The liquor was going to the Bliss Mission, which was supposedly anti-drinking. A guy named Homer Bliss heads it. Cranston is captured and ordered to be killed, but he escapes as the Shadow.

The same guy runs a cemetery called Blissful Gardens. Harry Vincent and Margo check the place out. They are both captured, though. Bliss has been taking people who resemble known crooks and having them killed. Their bodies, usually messed up, are identified as the crooks. The real crooks, meanwhile, are given plastic surgery and can assume an entirely new identity.

The Shadow confronts Bliss and his main thug. Harry and Margo are okay. Bliss tries to escape in a plane, but the Shadow gets on board and tosses him off into a deep hole.
