The Shadow vol.8 #9

Street & Smith, 1948.

I Must Never Sleep Again: Some guy's business partner jumped to his death and the guy says he is hearing voices telling him to jump. It turns out to be a guy behind it that is eventually caught, but just why the guy is making people do what he tells them is never really made clear.

Nick Carter in the Doctor Meets Death: A story whose ending is so predictable it isn't even funny.

Doc Savage Meets the Robot Master: A mad scientist has made robots he can use for crime. He has kidnapped a woman and plans to kill Doc Savage. He wants to get hold of Blackbeard's treasure.

Murder in the Spotlight (text, Nick Carter story): A quite interesting murder that wasn't a murder.

Nick Carter The 4th Card: A guy is killed and two crooks are the only seeming suspects. An odd story. I really don't care much for Nick Carter stories.

The Shadow Relax and Murder: A criminal doctor hypnotizes a man into killing his friend. His scheme is to get a rich guy to do something like that, then let him stay at the insane asylum for a large sum of money, allowing the guy to avoid the police. Margo and Lamont stay there for a short time while the Shadow solves the mystery of the who, how and why of the murders.
