The Key

This is another really good Shadow story involving crooked lawyers, their henchmen, lots of gunplay, villains dropping like flies, lawyers dropping like flies, and the Shadow working to thwart crime if possible, and punish it if it happens.

There are a couple of unusual things in the book. For one, Burbank takes the biggest role he's had yet (in the ones I have read so far). The Shadow, also, has gone outside of the U.S., and in his absence Burbank has taken over the coordination of the efforts of the Shadow's agents.

Another somewhat different thing is this explanation of who the Shadow is, which took up its own page in the book:

I also picked a guy to be evil, but it turned out he wasn't, and the one that seemed okay turned out to be the evil mastermind behind everything. In the end, of course, justice triumphs, which is another reason these books are so good.
