The Bride of Death, March 6, 1938

Again, it's just The Shadow knows as the introduction.

Again, it's a Blue Coal-sponsored episode, opening with the usual commercial.

The show opens in some kind of storm and with someone pounding on a door. A minister from a fishing village has come to fetch someone from the house. Two men stop him when he tries to get his daughter. The minister talks about heathen rights that has been brought to a good Christian place. A prophet is the one who wanted to stop the minister from getting his daughter.

Apparently the prophet has a couple of black panthers, also, that he threatens to use against the minister. The panthers supposedly scream and the prophet says it's an omen of death, the minister's. (Strangest sounding panthers I ever heard.)

Anyhow, it's church service time with the good minister. The minister tells the congregation how he tried to get his daughter but was unable to speak to her. He warns other people about the house of the devil and the man who desecrates the name of prophet. Suddenly there's a really loud sound and lots of screams. The minister and others died during whatever had happened.

Another car conversation between Lamont and Margo. Lamont says the minister and ten others had been killed by an explosion. The prophet is the leader of a cult worshipping a diety called the ancient one. The rituals included human sacrifice, according to Lamont. Lamont is going to ask questions in a cottage, and Margo plans to remain in the car.

The panthers have apparently come down to the village. The guy asks Lamont to enter the house but he's suddenly gone.

The prophet comes to the house just after Lamont disappears. The prophet questions about Lamont. The door closes and then the voice of the Shadow is heard. The prophet is not afraid of the Shadow. The prophet claims he is stronger than the Shadow.

The prophet tells his henchmen to take Margo prisoner. They seize her and the prophet says they will torture her.

Then it's time for another commercial.

Margo talks to the minister's daughter in the cottage. She says the Hindu has some sort of hold over another woman's mind. The prophet has said he will have to hold some kind of ceremony.

The minister's daughter is to be the Bride of Death. She is going to be sacrificed to the diety the prophet worships.

The prophet and his henchmen show up to take the minister's daughter. One henchman remains behind to deal with Margo, but he then hears the voice of the Shadow. The prophet tries to insult the Shadow, and Margo says what the prophet plans to do with the daughter.

The Shadow says it's all a plan to get hold of a fortune for the prophet. The prophet tries to leave but finds out the door is locked. The prophet claims he will kill Margo unless the Shadow gives him the key, and the Shadow does.

The Shadow hits the prophet and knocks him out. He tells Margo to leave and get help from the villagers.

Margo gets back and tells Lamont that the villagers are coming. The Shadow asks Margo to put on the prophet's clothes and attend the ceremony. She goes to the ceremony and it gets under way. The daughter has been tied to an altar of sacrifice.

The older woman is the one who is supposed to kill the daughter. The henchmen finally realize that it's Margo and not the prophet that is at the ceremony. Suddenly the voice of the Shadow is heard. He tells the henchmen that the prophet is a fake. The old woman still is planning to kill the daughter.

The daughter tries to get the woman to stop. The Shadow speaks to the older woman and tells her to drop the sword and she does. The henchmen realize that the Shadow is stronger than the prophet. The prophet shows up but the men won't behave him any more. They men attack the prophet and attack him with knives.

The prophet dies. The henchmen try to escape. The villagers arrive to save the daughter.

Then there's the usual final commercial.
