The Hypnotized Audience, 6-5-1938

Some reporters are asking a sultan or his representative. The representative dislikes them. They are going to give a recital for some sort of evil purpose.

There is some kind of plan to kill someone, the sultan's brother, at some kind of execution.

The guy is Durger Khan, or something like that. It's not always easy to make out names.

Lamont and Margo are at the recital. The people are talking about Orientals, and Lamont mentions about the guy that is supposed to be executed. He's a murderer. The police chief is also there, as is the governor of the state.

Khan goes into his dance, and Lamont recognizes that he is trying to hypnotize the audience. Margot is falling under the guy's influence. Lamont is the only one there not hypnotized. Men working with Khan kidnap the governor.

Lamont and the police commissioner leave the car they had used to chase Khan, and leave Margot in the car.

Then it's time for a commercial. They again use the voice of the Shadow during a commercial which, in my opinion, is kind of tacky.

Lamont and Weston, the commissioner, get to a building. They find Khan and ask him questions about the governor's disappearance. Khan leads them into a room with a mystic flame that matches the one used on the stage to hypnotize the audience at the recital.

Khan tries to hypnotize the two men. Weston falls under the control, but Lamont doesn't. Lamont acts like he's been hypnotized.

Lamont calls Margot on the radio. He tells her to ask for help. Khan plans to hypnotize the governor to call the prison and cancel the execution of the murderer, and Margot is to intercept the call and pretend she's the telephone operator at the prison.

Khan finds out Lamont is missing. The Shadow is in the room and talks to the governor. He tells the governor to make the call. Khan plans to kill the governor.

They try to stab the governor, but the Shadow stops them. The Shadow explains that the murderer is dead. The princess that's been involved the entire time, the wife of the murderer, listens to the radio and hears how the murderer was killed.

The princess shoots Khan and kills him. She also kills herself. The henchmen shows up with Margot. He explains to them that Khan and the Princess are both dead. The henchmen leave.
