Gun Island, 10-23-1938

This one opens with an advertisement from Blue Coal.

The episode starts with some men in a boat. It's a bunch of pirates setting up a ruse so they can take over a boat. Then the scene shifts to a guy talking to Lamont on a ship. Lamont has told the guy about his ability to fog men's minds.

Margo is on board the boat also. The men from the sinking ship are brought on board. The pirate's boat sinks. Captain Joe's true colors come out. The pirate captain shoots the ship's captain. Then another guy is shot to death.

Lamont calls Margo “dear.”

Lamont says he think this is more than piracy going on. The ship goes to a small island. They end up going onto the island. Lamont becomes the Shadow.

The pirate captain keeps threatening Margo.

Then there's the mid-show commercial. This is a time when people often had coal-burning furnaces in their home.

The captain talks to Margo the next day. He tells her he is going to kill her unless Lamont returns. Lamont then turns up to talk to Margo. He tells them the pirates have numerous riches and their furnishings are opulent.

The captain returns at dawn to get Margo. She hears shots. She goads him to try to find out what is really going on. He takes her to a hidden door in the hills. They then descend some steps. The captain turns the lights on. The room is filled with bombs and torpedoes. Some country that plans to attack the U.S. is using the island as a place to store their weapons.

Then the voice of the Shadow is heard. The captain admits he took over the ship just for fun. He also shuts the door. He's also holding a hand grenade. The Shadow then tries to hypnotize the captain. The Shadow makes him open the external door.

The captain is told to take Margo to the pier so she can get on a small rowboat and is taken out to the yacht. He gave the captain a chance to get all his men off the island. Then there's a massive explosion and the island blows up. Then Lamont starts talking about justice, etc. It's basically overdone.
