Shadow serial part 8: The Shadow Rides the Rails

To “ride the rails” back then generally meant being a hobo and stealing rides on various trains. This is another of the various changes in language from the 40's to now. The gangsters, for example, use terms that no gangster in modern films would use any more.

The Shadow crawls from the wreckage of the room.

The Shadow takes one of their cars, and the crooks follow in another car.

One of the crooks talks to Wu, asking if Lin Chang is there.

While one crook talks to another on the phone, Lamont is in the next room listening on an extension.

The crooks meet with the Black Tiger to get their instructions.

A guy wants to show the others his invention. Meanwhile, the head crook is to call the guy at 8:30 and play a record the Black Tiger has made. The invention is a “radio telephone.”

The men listen to the Black Tiger's message.

The Shadow plants a dictograph in the crook's meeting room.

The crooks hold their meeting while the Shadow listens in from another room.

The Black Tiger gives the crooks their orders.

The Shadow goes to the train junction to try and stop the crooks from destroying one of the trains.

One of the crooks knocks the Shadow over the head with a rock, and the Shadow falls onto the train tracks.
