Body & Soul

This is the third story series in this comic series. The first was ok; the second story series was so bad it was almost good; this series is just plain bad.

It’s almost like some kind of running gag, sort of Monty Python meets The Shadow. For five issues the Shadow’s incompetent sons haul his body from one place to another, trying to find Shamballa. Their adventures are utterly absurd, especially the town of Malice and the avenger known as The Innoculator.

When it gets to the point that a helicopter chops off the Shadow’s head and the evil guys steal the rest of the body you know you have something that is not only bad, but it’s actually an insult to the Shadow mythology.

Things get worse, though, when the Shadow’s head is revived (the body had been filled with formaldehyde, guys) and ends up being attached to a cyborg body. Which also happens to have been done, in a slightly different way, with one of the Shadow’s old menaces, Shiwan Khan. Which is setting up the fourth story series.

Considering how quickly this comic series is going downhill, I’m almost scared to start reading the fourth story series.
