The Shadow Strikes 13

The cover is a little unusual in that it shows the Shadow holding a machine gun from the time.

The story opens with some guy having finished having sex with a woman. Then he gets mad at here and hits her. He's some kind of gangster, by the way.

A reporter is checking the story of Tad Romanowski and his fiancee Brenda Shield, and how Tad has run up a gambling debt to a particular joint.

Meanwhile the Shadow confronts Tad's father, indicating that something very big is up. The father will not accept help from the Shadow, though. The Shadow talks to Margo while's she's in the women's restroom and wants her to find out from Brenda Shield where Tad is before the thugs can catch him themselves.

The thugs find Tad first and he signs over his share of the company to them. He thinks he's pulled a fast one, but the Shadow sets him straight. The thugs kill the guy's father. Later the Shadow guns down a bunch of thugs in a drive-by shooting, 1930's style.
