The Shadow Strikes 30
This is a two-issue story about how the Shadow came to be.
The story opens with Lamont in another country and guys are shot for wearing a fez. Cardona is reading a report of what happened and tells Fritz (who is really The Shadow). Cardona is researching the history of Kent Allard (the Shadow's original name, possibly.)
Allard is in Istanbul. Lamont Cranston shows up. A guy tries to kill Allard but Allard kills him first. A bunch of rich guys want Cranston to bankroll a smuggling scheme, with Allard as the pilot. Later Allard are talking and Allard tells Cranston he wants to take his place, sort of.
Later Allard goes to check on some people that Cranston was to do business with (Allard and Cranston are working together), but they are dead. Some guy attacks him, but Allard turns, now dressed as the Shadow (minus a scarf) and shoots the attacker. He's also wearing the girasol.
