Techno-Paganism
This is a term coming more and more into vogue today. Basically it means a person who follows the Pagan pathway and who has become involved with technologically advanced devices such as computers.
Shamanism/Paganism/Wicca there are a variety of uses for a computer:
The basic use of word processing, enabling you to write letters,
do newsletters with desktop-publishing software, etc.
2. The basic use of a database, allowing you to keep lists of all
your Pagan/Shamanism/Wiccan-related books, records, and videotapes.
3. If you run any kind of Pagan/Wiccan organization, you may want
to use a spreadsheet to keep track of expenses.
Now these are basic uses that anyone, Pagan or non-Pagan alike can make use of. There are specific Pagan/Wiccan/Shamanistic uses,
however.
1. Astrology programs: There are a variety of such programs available. Some of them simply do math and print out charts of houses, planets, and like matters, but do absolutely no interpreting at all. Other programs are more complete and include their own interpretations of the chart.
2. Tarot programs: Again, these range from the extremely simple to the very advanced and graphic-oriented program.
3. Numerology programs: There are not as many of these around, but there are some.
4. ESP-testing programs. I've only seen one or two of these, but they are still fairly decent.
In addition to programs geared towards specific activities, the computer can be one of the greatest sources of information possible. As noted in another chapter there are various bulletin-board services, both on local levels and on national levels (such as Internet) that can put you in contact with other Pagans or other people following specifically the Medicine Path. In addition, there are many sources of textual information on these services.
For example, one time I picked up a document listing by name various people accused of witchcraft and then executed. You can find people offering various rituals, meditations, ceremonies, leads to other groups and sources of information, etc. Basically, the computer as a source of basic information is virtually unlimited; the amount of material that is available is growing daily.
And, of course, you can share your ideas, meditations, ceremonies and rituals with other people.
