Verifying Psychic Information

When a reader tells you about something that will happen in your future, you eventually will know if they are right or wrong by whether or not the predicted event happens. If a reader tells you various traits about yourself in the present you will know whether those are true or not, so this form of reading is quite verifiable. When discussing past lives, however, we are on quite shaky ground. Reincarnation is a belief; as a belief it is beyond the pall of scientific methodology to either prove or disprove its existence.

One thing to consider is whether the information seems to resonate within you as true. In other words, does your intuition tell you that the information seems right? Also, if you are told you were a very famous person in a past life, you probably weren't. There haven't been that many famous people; most of us (if past lives are true) were basically average working folks who lived our span and died unnoticed by history.

A form of psychological therapy involving reincarnation, however, has proven quite useful. The psychologist works with a person, determining his or her past lives (or some of them, at least), and tries to find what event or events in those lives is still influencing them in this life. For example, a person may have a tremendous fear of heights, although at no time in this lifetime have they ever been dropped from a high place, been forced to look down from a high place, etc. Therapy might reveal that, in a past life, the person was someone who was thrown off a tall cliff and sacrificed to the gods, and now still carries the terror of that event, manifesting itself as a fear of heights. Whether or not reincarnation is true, therapy involving past lives seems to be experiencing some success.
