Dead Girl Walking

This is an extremely good book. The main character is Amber, who has dreams of becoming a manager in the entertainment business. She's pretty much an average girl with a very good personality. She even runs a club at high school that gives baskets of goodies to newly-enrolled students.

Her dreams have been set a major setback, though, when her parents have triplets and use her college fund.

The other major character is Leah Montgomery, who is the main player at the school. She's rich, beautiful, and seems to have anything and anyone she wants.

Amber gets a scholarship and, within moments, is dead. Sort of. She meets someone on the other side who can help, but Amber's bad sense of direction ends her spirit up in the wrong body.

So now she has to try to figure out how to convince her friends and her real parents who she is, while dealing with her 'new' set of parents who are, without a doubt, definitely not winners.

A fascinating part of the book happens when Amber is on the other side (or sort of in the middle, actually), and she finds out that dead animals have jobs to do, that there are evil beings called Dark Souls, and there are people called Temp Lifers who help living people out for a while so they can get themselves back in shape.

The story also deals with suicide and what can lead up to that.

This is an absolute must read.
