Changes for Josefina

This final book in the series revolves around Tia Dolores' announcement that she is going to be leaving the ranch, that she isn't really needed any more to help the girls learn how to do things like chores, making things, etc.

The girls don't want her to leave, of course, and they are sure that their father has fallen in love with her (Tia Dolores is the sister of his dead wife. The book explains that it was not at all unusual for a man to marry the sister of his wife if his wife died.)

The historical section deals with the various governments the people of the area lived under and various changes that they all went through, including the U.S. war on Mexico. (The U.S. wanted the New Mexico territory and more besides.)

The story is very emotional and a good ending to the series.
