Changes for Molly

There are two themes running through this story. First, Molly's father is due to return from the war work he was doing in England very soon, obviously something everyone is looking forward to. He might come on a certain date, but it's also possible he might be delayed.

The other theme is Molly's role as Miss Victory in a Red Cross show. She decides she needs to have her hair done differently, though, and manages to do that. She's also the best dancer and gets the role of Miss Victory, but then something goes wrong with one theme and something goes right with the other.

Actually, the most interesting part of the book is in the historical section where they note that women were expected to quit work and give the jobs back to the returning soldiers. Apparently magazines of the time were stressing that it was women's place to care for children, cook and keep the house clean. The entire historical section is quite interesting, but I thought that part was sort of the stand-out portion.
