Meet Samantha

Samantha is a little unusual in the girls of the series since she is obviously from a rather well-to-do family. Her family has various servants that work in the house, although she doesn't seem to be affected by that at all.

Samantha would like someone her age to play with, though, and for a while a girl moves in to the house next door to become a servant and they make friends. One of he servants leaves and no one will tell Samantha why so she finds out on her own. (The servant is a black person and lives in a segregated part of the city).

Then the girl next door has to leave and Samantha gets her Grandmother to help out the girl and her family.

An interesting story and a good historical section on the culture of the times in relation to women and young girls.
