Shizuko's Daughter

Yuki is twelve when her mother kills herself. Around a year later her father remarries to the woman he was cheating with when he was married to Yuki's mother, and the home situation is really bad for Yuki. Her father almost never talks to her and her new stepmother hates her and is an extremely nasty person.

Yuki has to someone carry on despite all of this, and the book tells about the things she goes through and how she tries to cope. It's basically a story of a young person's struggle to grow up in a very negative environment, and how she manages to find a place for herself.

It's a pretty good book, but for some reason it just didn't really grab or hold my interest.
