Hero, part 8

A public defender says she knows Kuryu.

Kuryu is going to be given a difficult medical negligence case and he'll be against the star public defender from above.

Who happens to come to visit him at the office.

This is the doctor who will be on trial.

Kuryu and the defense attorney have dinner together, making Maiko jealous. It's not a very happy time for them, though.

Kuryu and Maiko are investigating at the hospital to try to find out what actually happened in the operation. Everyone they talk to has exactly the same story to tell, and Kuryu becomes suspicious.

They go to interview a student nurse who resigned just after the incident, then suddenly got hired by another hospital with perks given to her. The girl refuses to talk, but Kuryu finds out that the woman defense lawyer he knows was the one that got her the job at the other hospital.

They finally get the girl to talk about what happened the night of the surgery.

Then the woman lawyer goes to meet Kuryu at his office and Kuryu, Maiko and her end up drinking together later.

Maiko gets drunk, critizes the woman attorney and then passes out. Later the woman lawyer puts more pressure on the one witness, to try to get her to change her testimony again.

At the trial the girl lies.

Kuryu catches her in a lie. She finally ends up telling the truth about what happened during the surgery.
