Long Vacation: Episode 9

Sena's former professor wants both Sena and Ryoko to train with a particular teacher. At the practice Ryoko's music is considered good by the teacher, but Sena does not do well and the teacher tells Sena that he doesn't have time to waste practicing with him.

Minami and the photographer talk, him telling her that he has a 6-year-old son which his ex-wife has custody on.

Ryoko and Sena talk and he saves her from being run over by a truck, injuring his hand in the process.

Shinji visits Sena at his apartment. Sena tells him that he and Minami have not talked since she moved out. Shinji says that she might marry the photographer.

Sena is thinking of giving up the piano and teaching music classes and getting a "regular" job. Shinji had given up the piano, apparently due to pressure being put on him to perform well. Not that he doesn't have to perform a certain way, he enjoys playing the piano again.

Shinji later visits Minami. He ends up moving in with Sena, sharing his apartment.

Minami sees Sena on his job and buys a tie (9800 yet, about $90 to $98 dollars!), then gives it to him sort of as an encouragement to play the piano. They talk briefly and he tells her that he doesn't have the ability to play the piano even though she tells him that she loves the way he plays.

Minami talks to Shinji and tells him she wants to learn to play the piano. She buys a Yamaha keyboard and starts practicing. Meanwhile, Sena is in the process of selling his piano.

Shinji tells Minami what is going on. Later Rumiko suggests that Shinji should live with Ryoko, but she also offers him a chance to move back in with her.

Sena gets home, expecting the piano to be gone, and finds Minami playing it. She tells him she learned one particular song in a week. They talk some, she leaves and goes to her apartment. Sena finally realizes how he feels about her and runs, takes a taxi part-way, then runs some more to her apartment, only to find her getting into a car with the photographer.
