Trick I, episode 9

Someone's talking about some creature appearing.

Ueda's talking to Yamada again. He says something about a friend of his who thinks a bunch of spiritualists are using drugs to deceive people.

Apparently he drugged her drink. She says she switched the glasses when she sat down and his drink was the drugged one.

She gets a call that appears to be from her father.

She gets a letter from someone who says he or she can predict her future. The letter was postmarked the previous day.

Some guy bumps into her and she slugs him, thinking he's part of what she suspects is a hoax.

She goes somewhere and a couple of guys act like they were expecting her.

They are the ones behind the letter.

One of the guys starts talking to her about the island seen at the start of the episode. Her mother is from that island. They claim her mother did something to them on the island.

They claim to know who killed her father, and that it's someone she knows quite well.

Yamada phones her mother to tell her what the guys said.

She asks the professor to find out what he can about the island while she checks the report the police have on the death of her father.

She gets another call, supposedly from her dead father.

She sees what seems to be her dead father.

The professor shows up and says that the island seems to be dying. He says that a miko (a shrine maiden) escaped from the village and that upset the spirits. She was five or six when her father died. (Ueda is trying to help her figure out who was really there just before he arrived.)

The guys claim her mother was the shrine maiden who escaped. They claim that just after Yamada's mother left the island it started dying.

The guy says something is going to appear soon.

It's not her mother they want to come to the island; it's her. They say she is going to get married and have a hole put in her head.

She goes to talk to her mother in person. Her mother confesses all.

She thinks the guys (or someone working with them) were the ones who killed her father by sabotaging his trick.

She finds a box of things that belonged to her when she was a child. She also finds something her father had written saying that he would be killed by Yamada, that she was the island's most powerful spiritualist and “they” had planted something in her mind.

She runs off somewhere and says she won't be back.
