Attu and Kiska

These were islands in the Aleutians, off the coast of Alaska, that the Japanese attacked and occupied for a while during the War. There never seemed to be any organized plan, though, for using these islands to launch attacks eastward against Alaska and maybe the West Coast, unlike American procedure which took islands to build runways to launch planes to take further islands, etc.
