Proceedings of the Asiatic Exclusion League , October 1910

As is usual, I'll just deal with the most interesting bits of the proceedings.

This is another of the proceedings that has an anti-Hindu section.

This refers to the attempt by San Francisco to force the Japanese into a segregated Oriental school, and how Teddy Roosevelt opposed that move. Notice that it says that Roosevelt threatened California “...with dire and summary punishment by the armed forces of the United States...” This is rather an exaggeration of Roosevelt's reaction, to say the least. Then the section goes on to say how Japanese were brought while people were distracted by the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 1906.

Notice also that this is a little late to be complaining about this. They're talking about it four years after it happened.

There is also a reference made to the League apparently losing some of its files in the fire.

Now the League is saying that white workers won't come to the West Coast because of the Asiatics, and that the “inherent pride of race is deep in the breast of every white man...and will not permit him to offer his service in competition with Asiatics.”

Another approach to trying to block Japanese is to say that the Asiatic peoples are disease-ridden.
