The Background of the Relations between Japan and the United States-1921

This is material from The American Academy of Political and Social Science, January, 1921.

War between the U.S. and Japan is unthinkable.

1: The Japanese wanted the Americans to go home at first. Since it was their country, the U.S. should have respected their wishes.

2: The relationship between the U.S. and Japan has not really been for that very long a time.

The Japanese really liked the early U.S. representative after time had passed.

The U.S. Civil War caused the U.S. to lose some of its interest in Japan.
