Another instance in which the Japanese can only say Banzai.
Attack on Attu. During the war the Japanese actually conquered some American soil. It consisted of some of the Aleutian Islands near Alaska. Their hold on the area didn't last long and both sides found out that the islands were not really any good for launching any kind of attack on mainland areas. The weather there was extremely bad and neither boats nor planes could function normally.
