One of the things the Japanese men who had been through this talked about was how the trainee pilots were beaten on a regular basis by the instructors. There are interviews with men who were kamikaze pilots and flee missions. One crashed into the sea due to mechanical problems; another was shot at by U.S planes, managed to get away, and crash-landed in a forest.

It also talks about how common people were to prepare themselves to defend against the Americans and die like the kamikaze if necessary.
