Life Among the Samurai

The first chapter goes into how early samurai were expert bowmen and horsemen. It also describes how a samurai put on his armor. It then describes samurai tactics in the field. Also, changes in armor and tactics over time are covered.

From that point the book goes into a very thorough history of the samurai; how they lived; how they fought; what kinds of changes happened when Japan opened itself to outside influence, and what the ultimate fate of the samurai were.

I would not consider this a “juvenile” book, even though that is what it is listed at in our library. I would consider it a worthwhile book to be read by adults, young adults, and students down through junior high ages.
