Formerly a CCC camp

The Mayer center used an old CCC camp. It held only 245 people, making it the smallest population of any of the assembly centers. In addition, it had the shortest occupation, from May 7 to June 2. All the evacuees were from southern Arizona. The evacuees were moved to the Poston camp. No traces of the camp remain and there are no monuments or memorials.
