Poston Press Bulletin, Volume 1 #11-15

Volume 1 #11: May 24, 1942

There are 5000 people in the place at the moment. Camp 2 is 65% completed, while Camp 3 is only 10% completed. There are some letters at the post office that need to be claimed; there will be meetings of artists and those interested in model airplanes; a 'singspiration' will be held; lost & found articles; church services. (This bulletin is only 1 page long.)

Volume 1 #12: May 26, 1942

Like the above bulletin, this one is only one page long. A baby has been born; meetings for those interested in art, ballroom dancing, tap dancing, and musical instruments. An In Memoriam for a 21-year-old girl who died at the camp.

This is very interesting, and I wonder if anyone has a copy of it?

Volume 1 #13: May 27, 1942

Another one-page bulletin. Farm and landscaping projects have gotten underway; articles about the fire department and the Scouts; a dance that is planned, and a list of unclaimed baggage.

Volume 1 #14: May 28, 1942

Page 1: Construction will soon be finished; a short report on the radio broadcast; the day's calendar; an article on baseball; the recreation department needs equipment, and factory managers are needed.

Page 2: The entire page is a list of lost & found items.

Volume 1 #15: May 29, 1942

Another one pager. 6327 is now the population of Poston; two trainloads of evacuees from Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, will soon arrive; a dancing teacher is needed; plans for a talent show; memorial day will be observed; actors and writers are needed for a Little Theater; the fire department will move to different quarters; a meeting of block mothers.
