Yanks Smash Truk

American carrier plans take off to attack the Japanese port at Truk.

Japanese ships are attacked in the harbor.

Japanese planes on the ground are attacked.

The plans work the entire area over, bombing a base the Japanese had considered impregnable.

Another Japanese ship is attacked. A few Japanese planes had gotten off the ground and tried to attack the US ships nearby,but they were shot down. The US planes attacking the various islands making up Truk were almost unopposed.

19 Japanese ships were sunk and around 200 planes lost, compared to 17 US planes, according to the film.

“Another Jap pilot seeks the glory of giving his life for the Emperor, so the Navy accommodates him.”

A Japanese transport ship is attacked.

The film basically calls Truk a Japanese Pearl Harbor which we destroyed in payback for their attack on the real Pearl Harbor.
