Return of the Allies

Philippines, 1941, prior to the Japanese invasion.

After the Japanese invasion.

Two-and-a-half years later, plans are laid to liberate the Philippines.

The Allies return. One series of shots shows ship after ship unloading men and materials which is indicative of one of the reasons Japan lost the war; it simply could not possibly out-produce the United States. The U.S. could produce more ships faster than could Japan; it could produce more supplies and get them to where they needed to be than could Japan. That this would happen was understood by Yamamoto and a small number of others, but their concerns were ignored by the military. The movie adds that there are over 7000 islands in the Philippines.

Lots and lots of explosions, flames, dead bodies, and poetic narration.

Japanese ships are attacked from the air.

More scenes of ships blowing up.

There are also scenes of Japanese planes on the ground being attacked.

Kamikaze attacks.

Filipinos greet the Americans as they arrive and even help them move equipment.

Clark Field is taken from the Japanese.

Then the video covers the battle for the city of Manila.

The fighting is building-to-building.

There's a lot of blatantly propagandistic material in this episode.
