Hiroshima: Fifty Years of Debate

The first chapter starts right off by being annoying. There are a number of margin notes, of a kind, that are in blue boxes. The problem is, they use a blue typeface, so it's very hard to read what the words are. Then it makes a reference to the air around the bomb explosion moving “faster than the speed of light.” Huh?

The book briefly talks about the pro-bombing argument that too many Americans would have died during an actual invasion of Japan. The book talks about whether Japan was ready to surrender or not, and also briefly mentions the internment of Japanese Americans in the U.S.

The book also examines other arguments both in favor of and against the use of the atomic bomb.

The use of blue-on-blue printing lowers the value of this book considerably, especially considering that there are so many other books out there on the same subject.
