I Was There – Tarawa

This is one of the guys that went in on the first wave of landings at Tarawa. He had a camera and a handgun.

At least two of the other guys went in on Kiska when it was invaded.

They are looking at footage of the task force.

Scenes of the actual attack. There's one particularly gruesome scene where where Japanese soldier (who is probably already dead) is machine-gunned while lying flat on his back.

A few Japanese prisoners were brought in.

They found wrecked Japanese equipment.

The island is quickly converted to an advanced air base.
