Battle 360: Vengeance at Midway

This is the series that uses lots of computer animation to picture how a battle took place from all sorts of different angles.

Planes from the carrier Enterprise find two of the Japanese carriers.

Earlier planes had been shot down, but the dive bombers successfully attack the Japanese carriers.

Four Japanese carriers at Midway.

The Japanese force at the Battle of Midway.

The smaller American force.

One major advantage the Americans had was that they had cracked the Imperial Navy code and so they knew what the Japanese were planning and roughly where they would be.

Japanese planes attack Midway.

The torpedo bombers were among the many planes shot down by the Japanese in the first wave of American attacks. The film notes that there was very little coordination between the various carriers on the launching of their planes.

The film then talks about heavily gunned the Japanese aircraft carriers were.

An American sub was ready to attack one of the Japanese carriers but was spotted and was attacked by a destroyer.

American torpedo bombers, slow planes, are attacked by Japanese Zeroes and are shot down.

The American dive bombers are going faster than they normally do. At first they can't find the Japanese carriers but they search for a little longer (with the possibility of not having enough fuel left to return to the Enterprise and the other characters) and they find the Japanese carriers and attack. The Americans lost 25 planes in the first waves of attacks and didn't hit any of the Japanese ships.

The Kaga is attacked first.

A bomb hits the Kaga after the first couple of bombs missed.

Another American pilot aims for the Japanese rising sun emblem on the character and puts a bomb into it.

The carrier Akagi also is destroyed.

Another group of dive bombers destroys the carrier Soryu.

Planes from the last Japanese carrier remaining, the Hiryu, launch to attack the American carriers.

The American carrier Yorktown is hit by Japanese bombers.

The last Japanese carrier is dealt with.
