Daughters of the Dragon: A Comfort Woman's Story

Historical fiction. A woman named Anna, who was born in Korea, wants to find her birth mother since she herself had been adopted. This leads to a trip to North Korea and to finding her material grandmother. There is a central figurine in the story and that is a two-headed dragon comb. We don't find out why it is important for quite a while.

The maternal grandmother was herself a comfort woman, forced into it by the Japanese. She tells her story of abuse which fits the description of the actual comfort women. The story goes into a very detailed history of her, going all the way through the defeat of Japan, the Korean conflict and afterwards.

There's also a major problem with various official police/thugs who demand the comb but who can't find it.
