Asiatic Land Battles: Allied Victories in China and Burma

1963, 66 pages. This book was probably meant for younger readers and, as many such books, I find it to be quite good, covering the material in a succinct manner. There are also photos and maps that help make the material more understandable.

A couple of things caught my eye. The book says one of the reasons that Japan invaded China was to prevent it from becoming a strong country under the leadership of Chiang Kai-shek. In one case three Japanese divisions involved in the fighting lost over 65.,000, many of those fatalities due to starvation and malaria.

Stalin did not want the war to end until the Soviets could get into it and end up claiming territory for themselves.

Another good thing about this entire series is that it covers Allied losses as well as their victories.

Worth getting.
