An Introduction to the Way of the Buddha

He starts off by noting that Buddhism focuses on the spiritual development of a person, not their relationship to any deity. He goes into the history of the Buddha. He then defines the Middle Way as consisting of enlightenment, eternal happiness and peace.

The 4 Noble Truths are:

The Truth of Suffering: life is suffering.
The Truth of the origin of suffering and desire.
The Truth of the cessation of suffering.
The Truth of the path to the cessation of suffering.

He explains briefly what each of these are. Then he moves onto the 8-Fold Path which consists of:

Right Understanding
Right Intention
Right Speech
Right Action
Right Livelihood
Right Effort
Right Mindfulness
Right Concentration.. Again, he defines what these are.

He then moves on to the three divisions of Buddhism and what each of them consist of and practicing Buddhism .It all makes for an interesting introduction to the subject.
