Mary Magdalene: Her History and Myths Revealed

First off, this is a beautiful book filled with wonderful artwork and photography. The main topics of the book include:

The Historical Magdalene: Western Christianity holds that Mary Magdalene was a reformed prostitute but the Eastern form doesn't agree with that.

20th Century Discoveries: The Gospel of Mary.

Myth and History Entwined: The section talks about the alleged marriage between Jesus and Mary and Mary's settling in Southern France after the passing of Jesus. The Knights Templar are also discussed in this section.

The Western Tradition: Marian relics and the popularity of Mary Magdalene in France. (To me the whole idea of people having bones of other people are relics is pretty yucky to say the least.)

The Eastern Tradition: Her final dwelling place.

Medieval Pilgrimage and Plays: This is really neat and something I haven't seen anywhere else.

The Black Madonnas: I wish this section might have been a bit larger.

The Alabaster Jar- An Enduring Symbol: This refers to a jar of expensive ointments that was used to wash the feet of Jesus.

Epilogue.

This has to be the most beautiful book about her that I have yet seen. Not as much information as other books, maybe, but still an absolute must to get.
